Queer Embroidery Workshop in South London

This June I’m running a BYOB Pride embroidery workshop in Forest Hill, and I’m really looking forward to it. It’s part of the Better Things spring/summer curation, and it’ll be a fun, relaxed evening of stitching, chatting, and customising clothes or making patches to wear to Pride.

I’m especially excited about designing the patterns we’ll be using. Of course there’ll be rainbows and Pride flags, but I’m also working on a few pronoun patches, queer slogans, and some subtler designs for people who want to stitch something meaningful but low-key. As always, people will be able to freestyle or mix and match the designs however they like – it’s all about making something that feels personal.

The workshop is queer-friendly, beginner-friendly, and BYOB, so you can bring a drink and settle in for a couple of hours of relaxed creativity. You don’t need any embroidery experience at all – I’ll guide everyone through the basics and help you get started. You can stitch onto clothes, bags, or fabric patches, and take home something to wear with Pride.

I’ve done a few Pride workshops over the years and they’ve always had such a good energy. People come along for different reasons – to make something for their Pride outfit, to update an old piece of clothing, or just to spend an evening doing something creative in a friendly space. I always leave feeling inspired by what everyone creates.

This one’s also special because I’ll be stocking a selection of my kits and candles at the Better Things shop as part of their spring/summer collection. They’re a brilliant space supporting local makers and creative workshops, and I’m so happy to be working with them.

If you’d like to come along, you can book tickets on Classbento here. It’s happening on Saturday 21st June, from 6:30 to 9:00pm, in Forest Hill, South London.
